Chess Ratings
A chess "rating" is suppose to give you an idea of how strong a player you are compared to other players. The most widely-known and accepted rating system in the United States is the "USCF" rating, which is promoted by the U.S. Chess Federation., check www.uschess.org for additional details.

The new "CXR rating System" has been used by chess clubs and teams in many well-known corporations in the New York Area and other parts of the country. The principal rating which that is provided is the CXR rating, which is more sensitive to recent performance then the USCF rating. However, at no additional cost, you also get more than than thirty other statistics, various reports, and the ability to review details of the games over the past two years via the
www.chess-express.com web site with your log-in & password.

There is also a FIDE rating system that has tougher requirements and so we have less chessplayers with FIDE ratings. The higher rated USCF players usually have a FIDE rating if they played a FIDE tournament and won a few games. See
www.fide.com for more information.

The USCF has specified minimum time controls as listed in "
Allowable Time Controls."
